JAKE

Despite his gentle nature, Jake has faced some twists and turns in finding his forever home. This sweet Quarter Horse gelding, who will turn 18 this year, came to the Rescue in early November 2018 as an owner surrender due to unforeseen circumstances. Jake was adopted by the end of the same month only to return in September 2020. Jake was adopted once more in December 2020 only to be returned to the Rescue again in May 2024. Jake will now be a permanent resident at the Rescue. He will be loved and cared for by our wonderful volunteers. Age has brought on some limitations and health issues for this sweet boy, but we are committed to ensuring he is comfortable and happy. Jake is settling in well since returning to us. He has made new friends and found comfort with old friends. While we dream of forever homes for each horse, life's unpredictability means we will always be a safe haven, standing by every equine we save, offering them a place and love, no matter the twists their journey might take.

Jake has been diagnosed with Cushing’s… A medication that cost $2.50 a day… He has also been getting an arthritis medication that cost a dollar a day… All of this is on top of the normal $300 to $400 per month for the feed and special shoes from the ferrier every six weeks for his front 2 hooves that have severe side bone. Of course there’s also the yearly vaccines, dentals, and all the unforeseen expenses…
